Contessa is the 21-story WCI tower at 8111 Bay Colony Drive, delivered in 1991 with 76 residences, four per floor below two penthouse levels. Plans run from about 2,125 to 3,027 square feet, with two or three bedrooms plus a den and two and a half to three and a half baths. Every unit has a direct view of the Gulf. Recent sales have closed between $2.2 million and $2.9 million, with one residence listed near $4.5 million. Much of that gap comes down to finishes, which is why kitchen and bathroom work is so common here. This page explains how it is done.

## Contessa Bathroom Remodel

As one of the first towers in Bay Colony, Contessa still has many residences with bathrooms from the early 1990s. Owners typically remove the corner tub in the primary bath, enlarge the shower, and replace builder vanities with floating or furniture-style cabinets in a lighter finish. Large-format porcelain that looks like marble is popular because it cuts grout lines and stands up to humidity. In plans with a half bath, adding a compact shower to make it a full bath can add real value, if the plumbing allows. Lighting is a close second: a lighted mirror and dimmable sconces make a windowless bath feel open and bright.

Every change in a concrete high-rise has to account for the slab. Moving a toilet or drain may require coring through the floor into the unit below, which needs association approval and often engineering review. Contessa's condominium association also controls elevator use, contractor hours and noise, and new hard flooring generally requires sound-rated underlayment. We confirm the building's current renovation rules, file the paperwork with the association and Collier County, and schedule demolition and deliveries to fit the building's calendar.

Bathroom remodels at Contessa start from $35,000 per bath.

## Contessa Kitchen Remodel

Original Contessa kitchens were galley or U-shaped rooms enclosed by walls, with the best light reserved for the living room and lanai. The most requested change is opening the kitchen to the great room so the Gulf view carries through. Whether a wall can come out depends on what is inside it: structural elements, plumbing risers or ductwork serving other floors cannot be moved. Our LiDAR scan and the building drawings tell us early which walls are free to go. Storage gets equal attention, with a tall pantry cabinet and deep drawers replacing the corner lazy Susans common in kitchens of this age.

Once the layout is set, the finish list for a Contessa kitchen usually includes flat-panel cabinetry to the ceiling, quartz or quartzite counters with a matching backsplash, an island or peninsula with seating, a new cooktop and wall oven, and panel-ready appliances. Every slab and cabinet must fit through the service elevator, so we measure that path as carefully as the kitchen itself. The photo-real 3D render lets you approve the finished room before anything is ordered, and stone is cut to the scan.

Kitchen remodels at Contessa start from $73,000.
